Chelsea, a content writer to make your day easier through words

Work /
Chelsea, Content Writer

Chelsea is a content writer and copywriter from the Gold Coast and she wears the badge with honour. She loves to help businesses through words so she can make your day a little less busy and your business strategy more concise in its copy. Chelsea recognises herself as not just a regular copywriter but a cool one. She’s not afraid to make boring stuff sound sexy as hell and she can help you NAIL your brand voice.

She loves to be salty-haired and barefoot, not checking the time and hanging out with her side-kick, Dudley, the Border Collie.  She explained that her business is a marketing and copywriting business, where she helps large businesses, small businesses and solopreneurs with all the marketing things they don’t have time for.

What inspired you to make the leap and go out on your own, and when did you first start working for yourself?

I accidentally fell into freelancing and then it never stopped. When I was in that awful time everyone goes through of working full time and freelancing, you realise one has to go. I was over being stuck in my career due to relying on other people to see me, the stagnation of development you feel as a woman as you get older in the corporate world and I wanted to control my time. So, in August this year, I said “SEEE YAAA” to my job and jumped in feet first to full-time business life.

Tell us about your experience of working for yourself?

People will tell you it’s hard, and you don’t really understand it till you’re doing it yourself. It’s hard, you work harder than you ever have but you are addicted to it. Because it’s yours. It is a massive learning curve I am still on. Finances, damn, that’s a whole course in itself.

What’s your best piece of advice for someone wanting to make the leap?

Stop waiting, there is no right time, just have your security blanket of funds to tie you over and go chase that dream. Worst case, you apply for a job.
