Mid-Weight to Senior (Preferred) WordPress Developer – Freelance position
About the Job or Project
Mid-Weight to Senior WordPress Developer/Designer
Freelance position
Times they are a-changin’ and Studio Jack needs to retain the title as ‘Jack of all trades’, so we’re on the hunt for a freelance WordPress whiz.
Do you know WordPress backend, frontend, inside and out? Have you also got a great design eye?
If so, we’re looking for someone just like you to help us out on some larger projects, and then with ongoing maintenance of current existing client requirements. With sufficient notice some weeks we’ll need you full-time hours, the rest we can send through and need updates turned around that week (not major jobs, just updates and straight-forward additions/plugins etc).
Studio Jack is a young, fun studio in the chic strip of Greville St in Prahran. We’re looking to add someome to the team who is responsible, confident with what they can do, and has a personality to match. This is really important to us. We’re a small team, but we all get along and our new addition will need to click into the flow easily, and also have someone who is comfortable liaising with our clients directly. If you’re not comfortable working directly with clients, this is not the role for you.
This role will initially report to Managing Creative Director. You’ll need to be able to manage yourself and your time and stick to schedules. We don’t expect you to be an incredible back-end developer – but you do need to be very familiar with WordPress, WordPress, oh… and WordPress.
The role is a freelance position, but we would hope to develop a great working relationship with you and you’ll stick around because you enjoy working with us.
Our hourly rate advertised is the maximum hourly rate. We are open to $60 – $100/hr for this role.
Responsibilities will include (this is an overarching list – please let us know what areas you’re not comfortable with):
- The translation of wireframes and design to actual code.
- Familiar with UX/UI principles.
- Ability to research and trouble shoot independently.
- Must be able to talk through processes/explain limitations, with non-coders and clients.
- Firm knowledge of WordPress plugins and ecommerce.
- Core front end development skillset of HTML5, CSS and JavaScript.
- Basic knowledge of hosting and email set-ups.
- Experienced with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
- Strong eye for design.
- Great communication skills
Bonus skills:
- Advance skills in JQuery or JavaScript
- Sketch or Adobe XD knowledge
- Experience using APIs
If this is you, please send us your CV along with an example of your work.
