Bright Circle is a Sydney-based bid writing agency working with clients in the engineering, construction and maintenance industries. We use our technical writing and editing skills to plan, write, and edit our clients’ bid and tender responses to help them win multi-million and multi-billion dollar government projects. Our team of writers is spread across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and New Zealand.

THE ROLE:

We are looking for freelance writers and editors in Brisbane to join the Bright Circle team as dedicated contractors.

Typically you will work on three or four projects a year, ranging between one and two months in length. When you are not working on a Bright Circle project, you are free to work on other freelance projects. This role does need you to be able to drop everything and work full-time for a month or two.

Bright Circle writers work on a project-to-project basis either onsite with our clients, or delivering work remotely. You will be paid per hour or day while you are working on Bright Circle projects.

Although we are primarily interested in writers in Brisbane, applications from writers in other locations are welcome – we have clients all over Australia, and much of our work is currently delivered remotely.

Ideal Applicant or Experience

TO BE BRILLIANT IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

• Have excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills

• Have stellar command of the English language – both spoken and written

• Have strong project management skills and be able to work independently, managing your own time and multiple deadlines.

• Be willing to be trained as a technical writer and editor – much of this is on-the-job training

• Be willing to work in a corporate environment

• Be a proactive and clear communicator, especially under stress

• Be a creative and proactive problem solver, with the ability to think and communicate strategically

• Have dedication to quality work, continuous learning and improving your own game

• Have impeccable grooming and corporate presentation (a personal touch of sartorial style is highly appreciated)

• Bring a positive and sunny attitude and embody Bright Circle’s brand values. Bright Circle means we are a bright (both clever and a sunny disposition) and close team which closes the loop in our clients’ team (circle)

• Has knowledge of marketing and communications with ability to think strategically

• Has tertiary – preferably postgraduate – qualifications in marketing, arts, journalism or commerce

• Is currently a freelance writer, editor, journalist or marketing professional and is looking for regular corporate freelance work

• Is preferably someone who has creative side-projects – we value creativity, creative passion, vision, and diversity of thinking

• Has a high level of attention to detail and works well under pressure

• Has corporate experience, or freelance experience working with corporates

• Has an active ABN, working rights or ability to invoice

• Has a desire to deliver a sunny and bright experience to our clients

• Has a willingness to learning new technologies and programs

• Has a strong internet connection for regular video conferencing

• Previous experience in technical writing, communications or marketing is highly regarded

• Previous experience with bids and tenders is well regarded

 

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:

Although the majority of work is remote, you are willing to commute and occasionally work on one of our many locations – Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne. We have worked entirely remotely since 2020, however we have returned to more on site work over the last year.
