Life Empowerment Coach Harriet

Harriet Jackson is a holistic women’s empowerment coach, meditation teacher, EFT practitioner, Human Design Guide, and lover of deep soulful chats which she also shares through daily inspirational podcasts. She champions women who want to overcome their limitations, break up with how they think they should be living life, and help them embody themselves as who they truly are.

Harriet found meditation, tapping, journaling, and all things personal development after she faced several health issues 5 years ago and after she listened to these signs, it completely changed her life for the better. She stepped into my spiritual practice and began letting go of who she thought she should be and starting being herself now. She said yes to working with a coach, which ultimately led her to become an Empowerment coach and leaving her corporate career behind.

Harriet is our latest Gem of the Week and shares more about her freelance life in the interview below.

Tell us about yourself and your business?

I’m Harriet, a holistic women’s life + empowerment coach based out of Melbourne. A meditation teacher, Human Design facilitator, podcaster, and lover of deep soulful chats (my podcast is even called Soulful Chats). I like to call myself a flow-er, because I coach and mentor women to flow with life, removing the blocks or barriers that are in the way of allowing them to flow with their most authentic life. I am on a mission to support women in breaking up with who they think they should be and embodying who they truly are.

I haven’t always had this life or mission, I was once a chartered accountant working my way up the corporate ladder. But after several burnouts and moments of “what is all this for” and “who am I really”, I followed a little nudge that led me to coaching. Now I wake up and know I am the creator of my day and my experiences and knowing that excited me so much!

When and why did you ditch the 9-5 and go out on your own?

I left my corporate job in December 2020 because I was burned out and over not having any flexibility. I wanted more space in my day, more time for me and the things I love. I felt like the work I did in my corporate job was not valued and that it was just a rat race to see who could get to the top. I felt like there was no room in my corporate job to be me and create a life I loved. I wanted to work in a space where I could support women in getting to know themselves and create a life based on what they wanted, not what they thought they should be doing. And here I am.

What’s the best piece of advice you’d give to someone who is waiting to take the leap to work for themselves?

Just do it. You will learn so much in the first few months that will be life-changing and so much more than you can ever imagine when your business is still a side hustle. And if you are scared financially, like I was, know you can always go and get another job. There are plenty out there which can support you in making your dreams come true.

Best tips for winning new business?

Give yourself time boundaries. When I first began my business I had all the time in the world. I opened myself up to clients every day and anytime and I spent hours crafting social posts. I started feeling anxious that my day was planned around my client’s needs and some of my tasks were taking up way too much of my time. So I limited client calls to 3 days a week and limited tasks like writing social posts to 30 minutes! And wow have things shifted. I feel excited to jump on client calls and I get straight into tasks because I know I only have limited time to complete them.

What has been your favourite client/project you’ve done to date?

My favourite project is actually a launch that I am currently in, for a digital program called Sisterhood School. The idea of Sisterhood School came through me a long time ago after I began hosting Women’s Circles and found a lot of women were craving deeper connections and more meaningful friendships. I too had felt this for most of my life, that constant seeking of my tribe. So not to get too much into the story, I have now created a space for women to come and learn about creating, mending, and deepening friendships, in a space where they are who they are to belong not become someone they are not to fit in.

What is a business win you’re currently celebrating?

Receiving some beautiful messages from podcast listeners! Podcasts are a funny thing, in which we create, put out these words of wisdom and sometimes we never hear anything back. So receiving little messages from listeners lately has really made my day!
