Tell us a little about yourself and your business?

I’m an ex-business owner turned Freelancer. I am passionate about all things Digital Marketing and E-commerce. I love social media and can get stuck on TikTok for longer than I care to admit!!

What inspired you to make the leap and go out on your own, and when did you first start working for yourself?

About 7 years ago, my bestie and I took the leap and started our own swimwear business – Lilly & Lime, swimwear for d-cup and up. We saw a gap in a niche market and went for it. We have decided to go our separate ways and it’s time for me to find a role that doesn’t consume me 24-7, 365 and hopefully works hours that suit my family.

Tell us about your experience of working for yourself?

As a mum, I love the flexibility of being able to do drop-offs and pickups and never miss a carnival or school event. On the flip side – running your own business can be extremely stressful and challenging 90% of the time…but also very rewarding.

What’s your best piece of advice for someone wanting to make the leap?

Make sure working for yourself is what you want – it’s not for everyone and you have to have it in you to succeed.

What has been your favourite project to date?

There is one particular swimwear collection and photoshoot that I just loved from the planning to the end result – Secret Garden – the product was so beautiful and we got to work with an amazing photographer – Emily Abay and our models and the team were a dream.

What is a business win you’re currently celebrating?

I recently did a short contract and we had a very successful influencer campaign that resulted in the product selling out.

What led you to join Freelancing Gems?

Freelancing Gems has been on my radar for quite some time but ultimately it was timing – the talented Jen joined your team and I just happened to be looking for my unicorn role!

What is one word you would use to describe Freelancing Gems?

Community.

What’s next for your business?

My unicorn role – a role I’m passionate about, achieve great results and it fits in with my family and lifestyle.
