Meet Christina, a design leader where your branding and marketing can be met

Christina specialises in branding and design services and has worked for major organisations and conglomerates, studios and sole traders, small businesses and other commercial entities. Christina founded Aviate Media which is all about quality and setting the bar higher every time. Your project, campaign and product-based needs in just about all aspects of design, branding and marketing can be met. Aviate Media services include creative project management, design and branding and in-house or remote creative support. Christina has over a decade of experience in design and marketing teams in industries such as defence, education, government, finance, property and tourism.

She has worn different hats along the way such as the doer, the leader and the operations manager. For many years of her experience, out of her love for design, Christina has also freelanced and contracted other designers while she is working, studying and living. She confidently delivers high-end final products and results-driven design.

We caught up with Christina to share more about her freelance life.

When and why did you ditch the 9-5 and go out on your own?

I realised the energy you have, and the drive you have isn’t bottomless. I decided if I was going to over-give or over-commit again, then that would be energy more suited for myself, my passions and excelling my own clients’ businesses. I won’t miss managing teams of people, I wouldn’t ever dream of subcontracting.

What’s the best piece of advice you’d give to someone who is wanting to take the leap to work for themselves?

Make educated and strategic assessments before taking any risks and you’ll know you’re ready when you know both your value and your worth.

Best tips for winning new business?

Be yourself, learn yourself. Learn who you are talking to. Modest mice don’t get a seat at the table!

What has been your favourite client/project you’ve done to date?

I’ve just begun working with a retail architect, I suspect he will become my favourite.

What is a business win you’re currently celebrating?

Attracting a prior employer as a client, I never saw that coming. It’s a nice compliment. I’m pleased with myself.
