Tell us a little about yourself and your business?

I specialise in supporting small business owners with their business admin so they can grow their business and be hands on and not have to worry about the outstanding paperwork at the end of the day.

What inspired you to make the leap and go out on your own, and when did you first start working for yourself?

I wanted to start my own business back in 2015 when I was made redundant while on maternity leave but the universe had other ideas.  I took the leap in October 2021 when I wasn’t permitted to work from home when my daughters school shut down for a deep clean during covid.  I needed the flexibility, being a single mum that only myself as my boss could give.

Tell us about your experience of working for yourself?

I haven’t looked back.  Of course there are ups and downs, good and bad times but on the whole, I am loving it.

What’s your best piece of advice for someone wanting to make the leap?

Feel the fear and do it anyway!

Best tips for winning new business?

I specialise in supporting small business owners with their business admin so they can grow their business and be hands on and not have to worry about the outstanding paperwork at the end of the day.

What has been your favourite project to date?

Helping a tradie get his books in order, I am talking 1,000’s of unreconciled transactions.  Such a good feeling when Xero gives you that green tick that you are up to date.

What is a business win you’re currently celebrating?

I have been trading for a year and not giving up throughout.

What led you to join Freelancing Gems?

The group was suggested in a virtual assistant group and I wanted to see if this group would be my tribe.

What is one word you would use to describe Freelancing Gems?

Supportive.

What’s next for your business?

I set myself a goal to bring on a subcontractor by the end of the year, working towards that by hopefully finding clients that I align with.
