When and why did you decide to go out on your own?

I had always loved the idea of flexibility in my working environment and hours so I started with one client while I was still employed full time. After I had my baby girl I realised I didn’t want to go back to working for someone else because I’d miss so many of my daughters firsts so I started to consider picking up a few more clients. It’s amazing as soon as I committed to this idea of working for myself I was quickly at capacity with clients.

What is your favourite thing so far about freelancing?

My favourite thing about freelancing is working the hours I want and the ability to be picky about the clients I work with. I’m so much happier because of it.

What business win are you currently celebrating?

My latest business win is getting contract work as a freelancer through business contacts I made while I was employed full time. I have a good reputation from working in the marketing, digital and communications industries and that is translating in to business for me now that I’m self-employed. So maybe, the timing of going out on my own was just right.
