Introducing: Entrepreneur in Residence and Edible Blooms Founder, Kelly Jamieson.

A boss lady we are thrilled to welcome to the Freelancing Gems community this month as our latest Entrepreneur in Residence is Adelaide’s Kelly Jamieson, Global MD and Co-founder of gifting company Edible Blooms.

Kelly is an award-winning businesswoman who started making chocolate bouquets with her sister and has since grown the business into a gifting powerhouse that has expanded across Australia, New Zealand and to the UK!

We had a chat with Kelly about what 2020 has taught her about business and her big plans for 2021.

What has 2020 taught you about your business?

“Building systems that scale is key. When COVID-19 arrived I was grateful that we had already invested in our people and our systems ready for growth. They enabled us to connect a record number of people around Australia, NZ and the UK with relative ease in the challenging environment that has been 2020. The way that our team has developed and grown this year gives me great confidence for the future.”

What are your business goals for 2021?

“In Australia we’re focussing on our 100% Australian Made gift range, including our incredible new hamper gift range. In the UK we’re excited to see our business there double again in 2021 and broaden our reach into Europe for customers.”

What is fave business quote that inspires you?

“It pays to be the person who won’t take no for an answer” – Marc Randolph.

After 15 years in business, Kelly has learned a thing or two – five actually and she’s generously shared them with us:

1. Making mistakes is gold (as long as you learn from them).
2. Success is not a sprint, it’s a marathon.
3. Don’t take yourself too seriously.
4. Work hard.
5. Love what you do.

Kelly feels that she has the privilege every day of helping their customers to create big beautiful smiles at Edible Blooms. Her team says she also holds the world record for the most Lindt chocolate balls eaten in one day, but that’s another story…

She is also a busy mum trying her best with the daily juggle of precious time with her husband and 2 children, and the tempting lure of her first child – her business. She says, “Sometimes I drop the ball but one of my key learnings as an entrepreneur is a quick recovery and a lesson learned.”

We are delighted to have Kelly as our latest Entrepreneur in Residence, so for our Ruby and Emerald members, make sure you ask her all your burning questions this month.
